Maybe he was subconsciously angling for an upgrade. It does get very, very hot. In any event, it's inexpensive and we had no significant problems- though it is currently obsolete. This receiver lasted four years, until the husband got lazy and decided to never turn it off. It lived as long as it did because we were diligent about turning it off when we weren't using it.
What a waste of money. I will never buy another product from XACT ever again. I purchased then receiver, boombox and portable kit and the receiver went bad so i lost out on everything.
Will not buy another. Unit failed after six hours of use and was returned for refund.
I would AVOID purchasing this company's products. I have replaced this unit 3 times in 2 years. At some point I will. The only reason I keep replacing parts is I don't want to invest in a new radio, home kit and car kit all over again. I have replaced the car kit 3 times in 2 years. I have replaced the home kit twice in 2 years.
